Patrick Maguire

Hey, I'm Patrick.

I work with anyone having a hard time with something.

I help you figure out what's actually going on and what to do about it.

I'm expanding my group facilitation profession into coaching work, and as I build that out I'm offering a set of free sessions — six 1-hour sessions or four 90-minute sessions — in exchange for feedback.

What I'm Offering

I work as a coach and mentor. I ask questions, listen, and suggest things for us to try out together. I help you get to the deeper levels of what’s going on, help you find the root cause, and figure out what to do with what we find.

My approach is rooted in my own experience of living with and overcoming PTSD, isolation, and addiction. I only offer what I have personally found deeply useful. Learn more about me.

I draw on three approaches — Internal Family Systems, Somatic work, and Authentic Relating — all of which I’ve completed in-depth trainings in and have extensive experience with. No prior knowledge of or experience in any of them is necessary. Everything we do is optional, and everything you share is strictly confidential between the two of us.

Everyone I work with is unique, so I can’t tell you ahead of time exactly what our sessions will look like. I can say you’ll leave our sessions feeling heard, seen, and with some new tools to try out in your day to day life.

I’m currently offering a free set of six 1-hour sessions (or four 90-minute sessions), weekly or bi-weekly. All I ask for in return is honest feedback, both positive and critical.

These sessions would happen over Zoom, although I would be open to an in-person option if we live nearby. I have slots open on weekdays, evenings, and some weekend mornings.

If our work is going well together and you're interested in continuing after the free sessions end, my rates are $70 for a 60 minute session or $95 for 90 minutes. That said, there will be absolutely no obligation to continue once the free sessions are complete.

  • You find yourself struggling over and over in certain areas of your life, and can’t figure out why you’re not making progress
  • You avoid certain things or people or situations without wanting to or understanding why, or find yourself procrastinating in certain areas
  • You’ve had strong, unexpected reactions to events or people that have left you confused or surprised
  • You feel like there’s something missing in your life
  • You want deeper connection with people but keep finding it hard to get there
  • You have something you need to talk about, but don’t have anyone in your life you feel comfortable bringing it to
  • You’ve tried coaching or therapy or other 1on1 work, but it hasn’t helped in the way that you hoped

FAQ

Is this therapy?

No. I'm not a therapist, and I'm not offering therapy. If we talk and I think a therapist is what you need, I'll let you know and help you find one.

What I am offering is a place to talk where you won't be judged, and a set of tools and practices that changed my life.

What if I don't know what to talk about, or how to answer your questions, or how to approach this?

I firmly believe that there is absolutely no wrong way for you to be or act when working with me. I'll meet you exactly where you are, without judgment.

You don't need to prepare anything, or find the right words, or know where to start. All you need to bring is yourself, and some willingness to be open.

Is what we discuss confidential?

Absolutely. I take this very seriously. Everything we discuss stays between us, and any notes I take are brief and stored securely. The only exception is if I believe you, or someone else, is in serious and immediate danger.

What if this turns out not to be a good fit for me?

That's partly what the intro chat is for, but it's also completely fine to discover along the way. You can stop anytime, no explanation needed.

What if I'm already in therapy?

My tools and approach are complementary with therapy, and should help you to get more out of your therapy sessions without derailing progress being made there.

How will I schedule our sessions?

Once we complete our first Zoom chat, I'll send you a link with all of my calendar openings, and you can pick whichever dates and times work for you.

You mentioned a requirement for feedback in exchange for the free sessions. What does that look like?

Once the set of free sessions is wrapped up, I'll send you a link to an online survey to complete. It should take around 15 minutes to complete.

Do you accept insurance?

No, not at this time, and in general insurance only covers clinical care, which I'm not licensed to provide.
